When I first published Already Almost Home, I really wanted to market poetry to readers who claim they don’t enjoy poetry. That’s part of the reason for the pictures and short prose pieces interspersed throughout. I write a wide array of poetry, crossing different emotions, levels of intellectual depth (I mean, Overalls? Cliches? and then there’s Shrinking Faith. So different), and portraying different experiences. Seth likes to tell me I write a little something for everybody.
And that’s what I wanted to show with Already Almost Home. So I was bummed when one of my retailers/printers only had one color printing option: Premium. Because who is going to pay a premium for poetry, self-published at that, by a no-name author? Not the general audience I was hoping to reach. But my most loyal readers have, and I appreciate you all so much!
Originally, I wanted to price Already Almost Home at $12ish. But, I wanted my prices to be consistent across different retailers, and so I wound up at $24. Uffda. I’m excited to announce that my printer has added a standard color option, and I’ll be able to drop prices everywhere. You can already buy AAH on my website for $12 +$4 for shipping (it will come in media mail, cutely packaged!). It may take a few days for Barnes & Noble and Amazon to catch up and have the new pricing, but I’ve started the ball rolling.
I’m excited to see if this improves the reach of Already Almost Home. Maybe I can get this whole pricing thing down before the next book comes out. If you haven’t already gotten your copy of Already Almost Home, I’ll leave the links here:
